Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to my EyeClarity podcast today.

00:07

So in this show, I’m going to give you a bird’s eye view of a session I gave to a woman. She’s 52 years old, and she has been diagnosed with the trifecta cataracts, floaters and astigmatism. And during the session, I talk about the causes, and also what are the solutions, and I will give you the action steps on what to do to improve the situation. Now, at the beginning of the session, the doctor gives her a diagnosis of a condition called amblyopia. And that means lazy, I don’t really like that term. But it’s the medical term used lazy, you know, you start being labeled lazy, and what are you going to do, you’re probably going to cower and pull back and recede even more. So I don’t like to use that word. But in the medical jargon amblyopia means that you know, one eye is not seeing as well as the other. And it was a funny diagnosis because she was diagnosed with cataract cataracts, but more so in the left eye. And the amblyopia that the doctor mentioned also is in the left eye, and you’ll hear me talk about how amblyopia is more of a situation that’s functional, the brain eye connection, as opposed to, say a disease process like a cataract, we wouldn’t normally put those two things together a cataract and amblyopia. But for some reason, this doctor did. So I’ll address that. And then I’ll go into the conditions, cataracts, floaters, and the astigmatism, and make some comments during the, during the session. Enjoy the show. So if I show you a picture here,

02:07

we can see this, this is, this is a healthy lens, this is the front of the eye, the back of the eye, see, it’s kind of white. And when you have a cataract starting to form, this starts to turn brown. And reason why it turns brown is because the detoxification pathway of this tissue is impeded. There’s something wrong with it. So it’s not able to flush the toxins out of the eye out of the lens. And so what happens is, when comes Brown, it starts to block light coming in. And so it’s going to be blurry on the retina. So you’re gonna see things blurry, like with the eye chart. That’s why you’re having difficulty seeing the eye chart, because the light is blocking

03:08

to be able to come in because you have this is oxidative stress, or free radicals that are now blocking the ability. So what we need to do is increase your ability to get rid of the toxins.

03:25

It’s kind of an odd, that’s kind of an odd diagnosis that he would put together, amblyopia. And cataracts, because amblyopia is more of a brain problem. And it’s related to the fact that there is a prescription glasses prescription that you sometimes can get that can

03:54

improve the eye brain connection and reduce the amblyopia. So I don’t know if he’s thinking that the cataract is causing the amblyopia or if there’s another reason why you’re developing amblyopia, but he doesn’t really go into it. I also saw in your history that you mentioned something called floaters for the floaters by bringing the picture back. Yeah. This part of the eye right here. This is the back part. This is this is made up of a column this is made of collagen, connective tissue. And it’s like a jelly it’s like a jelly

04:39

that happens in floaters is that this gel starts to skid solid. In other words,

04:50

dehydrate and it shrinks. flakes are breaking off from the edges, which then float in the

05:00

gel sack that sort of floater is

05:03

what causes that?

05:05

Well, a couple of things, the circulation is not working, the circulation here is not working very well.

05:13

So there’s a starvation of the tissue, the collagen is not getting the nutrients, so the collagen dries out. And so it’s a, it’s an oxygenation problem. It’s a dehydration problem. It’s an oxidative stress problem. And it’s related to the cataract. See this, this whole eyeball needs a lot of oxygen, and circulation, if it doesn’t get in, tissues start to dry out, and they change.

05:48

So the, the root cause is the same of this. And this,

05:56

they’re the same cause, but they’re just affecting different parts of the eye. Now, when you bring in astigmatism, and by the way, a astigmatism is spelled Astig as ti G, Ma, ti, SEM, so it’s a astigmatism. And what it means is that the shape of the eyeball, see how this is round. But in a Semitism,

06:28

it starts to look like an egg.

06:32

A, the shape of the eye is changing, because the muscles that hold the eye in the socket, begin to change. Now, when that happens is it changes the shape to an egg. And so the doctor that is, is adding an astigmatism, to try to correct the irregular blur that’s happening. But in any of these prescriptions that he gives you, it’s only reinforcing the problem.

07:08

No, any glasses you get or contacts that are based on reading the chart at 20 feet, is only going to make things worse, it reinforces the problem that you already come in with. And so it’s not really correcting anything.

07:28

It’s only

07:31

making it worse, in some ways. It does help you in the moment. But see, this is all symptom faced.

07:41

It’s reactionary, everything is based on a reaction. You know, you’ve got cataracts, you’ve got cataracts, let’s do surgery, you’ve got your regular blurry astigmatism, let’s give you glasses, you’ve got floaters, there’s nothing you can do about it, it’s just gonna get worse. So there’s a reactionary way that

08:06

you know, we treat these things. And what I’ve learned over the years is that whatever the symptoms are in your eyes, you want to try to find the causes, and then you want to improve the cause or treat the cause and then the symptoms will go away. So in our session today, what I want to do is go over a couple of things, and then I answer your questions. Number one is help you reports the cataracts in both eyes, but more left eye because that’s really affecting you. So I want to give you protocol for that. Number two, I want to get you a protocol for floaters, so that you can get those as well. Because that also could be interfering with your ability to see things clearly. And then number three, we could talk about the astigmatism and how it will how to get out of that. So let’s go through some essential ingredients to improve lens health. These are research based and you may already you may already be doing these things. And if you are that’s cool, but if you’re not, then you might consider adding these are things that help improve lens health and can help reverse cataracts Alright, number one on the list. Yeah. Yeah, master antioxidant called glutathione.

09:35

Glutathione. Yeah, so glutathione is the master antioxidant is one of the things that’s needed for healthy lens. Alright, so there are different ways that you can take it. You can do a sublingual spray. You could get what we call a liposomal. So it’s an a fat molecule, and you can spray it under the top

10:00

Some people prefer to do capsules. Some people prefer to do powder. And so you can, you know, look at what’s out there. I unfortunately,

10:14

right in this moment, I’ve just agreed to start carrying a glutathione powder, but it’s not ready yet. I’m not ready to release it. So I probably won’t be up on our webstore for another month or so.

10:31

Number two is

10:37

vitamin C.

10:40

There was a big study that was done actually in the UK, which said that if you take 2000 milligrams a day of vitamin C, you lower your risk of cataracts by 33%.

10:55

So, I do take

11:00

Okay, show me what you take.

11:05

Okay, yeah, that’s a good one. So how many milligrams a day? 1000 Yeah, how many milligrams

11:14

I weighed up at, I would do 2000 2000 million. I would do 2000 2000 It’s also good for your immune system and you know, other antiviral so you know, you could spread it out. I wouldn’t take 2000 ones but you could maybe do spread it. Yeah.

11:35

It’s made from buying

11:39

and buying. It’s a good company. Yeah, yeah, that’s a good one. Come on.

11:48

Is that superfood camo camo is a superfood and it’s got a lot of vitamin C in it. Okay. Yeah, the next would be the your your fish oil. Make sure you’re getting enough Omega three.

12:03

I like to do. I look at it this way the DHA and the Omega three is very important.

12:11

I’ve written a blog about it I took a search the DHA and EPA are in the Omega three. So DHA you’d want to get on the DHA side about 900 milligrams a day. Just that and you know you may be looking around 2000 total.

12:31

And make sure you’re getting the the carotenoids lutein z is Anthon and asked us Anthon I recommend mine, I recommend getting my vitamin which has the lutein and zeaxanthin and then I also made an Astra Xanthan.

12:49

In this next section, I talk about something called the glycation process. And it’s very interesting, you know, certain types of cataract form based on our diet, specifically, foods that contain sugar and simple carbohydrates. So this combination of glucose attaching to the protein molecule of the lens of the eye

13:19

is one of the reasons why people develop cataracts.

13:24

So here is my message.

13:27

That glucose, glucose

13:32

attaches itself to the protein molecule in the lens of the eye.

13:41

And that’s called glycation. And glycation is one of the reasons why we develop cataracts.

13:50

The glucose molecule attaches to the protein molecule of the lens and that creates

13:59

the cataract and I bring it up because there is an eye drop that I think you can get. It helps dissolve that

14:12

glucose protein relationship in the lens of the eye and the the eye drop is called can dash c

14:23

can dash c it’s a it’s a nice eye drop, you would do one to two drops, three times a day. And that could help you dissolve

14:35

your cataracts.

14:38

So one of the one of the aspects of getting rid of cataracts is increasing what we call your NAC levels. I’m going to put the link of where you can look this up. So I just sent you the link on the chat which will take you

15:00

to the homepage of the can dash c.

15:06

And N acetylcysteine is

15:12

a key ingredient as an antioxidant that fights vitreous issues. So that’s what the floaters and it helps get rid of senile cataracts.

15:28

And it’s readily available

15:31

where where you are.

15:36

So I would use that eyedrop to help you

15:43

dissolve them. Now, there’s some side effects, if you use too much of it, it can create a little bit of blurry vision temporarily. And that’s just your your eye, detoxing or flushing out the toxins in the lens.

16:04

But generally speaking, they will lubricate and hydrate your eyes more

16:11

it because it’s got this n acetyl carnosine.

16:17

That’s a great antioxidant. It’s targeting the lens.

16:22

So you’re doing the systemic things with glutathione and vitamin C.

16:29

And now you’re doing the N acetyl carnosine. The can see which is the eye drop topically right on the eye, which will help dissolve the cataract. And it will take some time. I mean, it may take three to six months. And like you say you’ll probably notice improvements

16:52

pretty quickly. You know, and it may get better. And then some days are better. Some days are worse. But you’re going to look for that as you as you do this protocol.

17:06

Any questions?

17:10

This is also an American company.

17:13

Yes, but they they it’s American company. They were originally they developed this drug, this dry drop in the Soviet Union.

17:24

And

17:27

then they were able to bring it to the United States. But I think it’s international, I think you can get it anywhere I

17:35

want, you be able to get stuff that’s available. Now, there’s a couple of other things around the lens of the eye that you want to be aware of. Number one, is if you’re doing a lot of screen time,

17:53

you might consider or a blue blocking pair of glasses

17:59

or a screen and put over your

18:04

I’ve just had this made because via team blue light block, King lens group. Okay, it looked like it. So I’m just like I said, you’re probably doing a lot of the things already. But I just thought I’d you know, add that. So, yeah, there’s a company in the UK who I’ve worked with. I really liked them and I’m gonna put that chat. Yep. And they’re great. They’re great. It’s called aka shield.

18:35

And they

18:38

they’re from the UK, I had the CEO on my health summit and on my podcast. It’s this good resource information

18:49

on the damaging effects of blue light and eyes. So it’s a, you know, something if you want to go further you can. Another thing is

19:03

is make sure

19:06

as best as you can.

19:09

It’s kind of this balancing act, getting some daily natural sunlight.

19:15

But

19:20

as you get more into the winter months, I think it’s even more important for you to expose yourself to some full spectrum lighting or natural light and it can be cloudy.

19:33

So it doesn’t need to be bright sun, but I think that natural sunlight. I want you to be aware of your sleeping

19:45

how your sleep is.

19:48

How is your sleep? Do you have any problems with that or

19:53

to be honest, not really. I sleep I need relatively a lot of sleep and I don’t sleep very deeply. I

20:00

I sleep very superficially. And I don’t know, why is that?

20:03

Well, you know, there’s so many reasons. There’s

20:11

let me look him up here.

20:14

We just look him up. He’s a colleague of mine. He’s also from the UK. And his name is Dave Gibson. And I had him on my podcast, I’m gonna send you his link.

20:27

You know, there are many reasons why we don’t sleep, there could be endocrine reasons, there could be

20:36

no EMFs. There could be we stay on our electronic devices too long. Before we go to sleep, you shouldn’t really stop using digital devices.

20:51

I’d like to see 30 or 60 minutes by at least 30 minutes.

20:57

So in terms of blue light, and sleep, my overall suggestion is stop using your digital devices one hour before you go to bed.

21:08

And when January of this year, I organized a whole health summit, and I invited two speakers from the UK ones named Dave Gibson. He’s an osteopath, but his specialty is helping people sleep better. And sleep is so important in our ability to recharge, he’ll throw off stress, regenerate. And Dave’s perspective is really refreshing. His name is David Gibson, you can find him on Instagram. So we’re talking about floaters here. And I mentioned the blue light, how it dries the eyes out and EMF pollution can also Dry your eyes out dry the collagen out be one of the contributing factors of floaters.

22:04

One of the things about this patient is that she’s got a lot of stuff going on with her teeth. And poor dentistry really creates ill health and the level of dentistry, I feel is well subpar. And it creates more problems for people. And so the second person I recommended is Dr. Seb lo mas and he’s a holistic biological dentist in the UK. And he was also on my health summit and he’s a cranial sacral therapist. He works also with sleep he works with using holistic methods instead of you know, doing root canals. Obviously he’s not using mercury in the mouth.

22:58

And when a person has floaters, poor dentistry can be another reason why they develop floaters. So I suggested

23:09

that she contact Dr. Loomis

23:12

and get an evaluation and see if she can raise the level of her how health and her teeth.

23:20

Your dentistry can even cause things like floaters cataracts.

23:29

Why is that? Okay, let me look here.

23:34

And also root canals

23:39

there’s so many better ways

23:45

areas wonder why wasn’t coming up. All right, I’m going to send his website right now. And he’s also cranial person. So he’s sensitive to cranial sacral

24:00

he’s

24:02

he just could help you on so many levels. Because you know, if you can areas wonder of wellness

24:12

areas. Blow mess.

24:16

Yeah. And go see him. He’s really good. He’s, he’s like me, working in the field of dentistry. And, you know, I know pretty well, so I can vouch for him. He’s a good guy, and he’s, he’s really wants to help people. So

24:35

I would definitely check him out. That that could be part of your eye issue. Because, you know, everything in the mouth area is this. There’s the floor of the eye sockets and it seeps in, you know, and if there’s unresolved infections or

24:55

again, you know, your cranial system and the jaw

25:00

and so on the things that maybe he can do to help with that in a more whole body holistic kind of way.

25:09

One more comment and sorry remark that might have information that might help. I

25:15

used to suffer from leaky gut syndrome.

25:21

Okay, yeah, so I am susceptible to having leaky syndrome. So I might also know,

25:28

I, the internal lining of the gut mirrors the internal lining of the eyeball.

25:35

And so, the I thought one of the highest nutritional needs of the body because of all the blood vessels. And if your gut is compromised either because of inflammation, Candida, whatever it is, you know, exposure to toxins, then it is going to affect those energy rich areas like the eyes and also the brain.

26:04

So now we bring things like functional medicine, or functional nutrition.

26:11

You know, the probiotics situation is something to consider to take

26:23

intolerant to Yeah, intolerant to gluten, lactose sugar.

26:28

I cannot eat or anything.

26:31

Right. Well, that’s good to know that

26:34

you know, you might get there’s two things you might consider a really like, a company I like is Garden of Life. And they put out a great woman biotic.

26:48

You take that on an empty stomach in the morning. Yeah.

26:54

And, you know, try to do coke. I don’t know if they have that there, but do more coconut based things coconut based yogurt coconut based, you know?

27:07

Yeah. So that you’re staying away from the dairy because that’s probably also

27:13

negatively affecting you. Yeah, and, you know, antioxidants, plant based

27:20

anti inflammatory foods.

27:24

And you don’t need to be vegan or vegetarian.

27:28

That’s, that’s not a requirement at all, but just that you’re getting good dietary absorption. Now that’s so important, because it kind of drives everything.

27:43

So, so that’s good that you’re aware of that. I wanted to talk a little more about floater. I wanted to talk about floaters. So, there’s a couple of other things that I’ll present to you that can help reduce floaters. Number one. Yeah, there was a study that came out. That was pretty cool. And it said that if you ate pineapple, because the bromelain pineapple helped dissolve the floaters.

28:15

So

28:17

that’s one thing. Another thing is that

28:24

my 15% MSM eye drops. I

28:30

am using it. Yeah. Okay. So, you know, it was dropped below.

28:36

That’ll also help the cataract as well. The 15% It stinks a little bit but it’s good.

28:44

It’s okay. Yeah, yeah.

28:49

Yeah, so then, some other things with floaters would be

28:56

your liver, liver health. So in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, the liver rules the eyes.

29:04

So doing a round of something like milk thistle,

29:09

as an herbal you know, one to two weeks.

29:15

So liver cleanse

29:18

and also your ability your ability to have enough of the bile which is produced in the liver, and stored in the gallbladder helps you absorb fat soluble vitamins, like vitamin A, and the lutein and zeaxanthin and if you feel like you’re compromised in your liver or gallbladder, then you can take a supplement called bile salts after your meal and that will

29:55

be ILEB I

30:00

Yeah.

30:01

Yep, called bile

30:04

salts. I just wanted in the chat. Yeah. And so what that does is that makes up for low bile that’s produced in the liver, that sometimes is a reason why we develop AI problems.

30:21

Because we’re not producing enough bile, or you can eat, you know, when you eat a meal, make sure that you’re eating some good fats. With that, you know, that’s another way to make sure.

30:36

So those are some functional medicine things that are important that you know, the eye doctors don’t think about very much.

30:46

And then there’s another thing that’s also can be valuable to you. If you’ve got any dry dryness in your eyes.

30:55

And that is

30:58

Yeah, in the evening, you can wash your hands and put on your fingers, two fingers, some castor oil. What What kind of what has

31:10

gusto I’ll put castor oil

31:17

I’m releasing an eyedropper pretty soon. So if you see Chad castor oil, yeah, so you get some more good castor oil and you massage it lightly lightly on the outside part of the eyes, especially the eyelids, that will keep your eyes moist.

31:36

And it also has a

31:39

kind of a healing value on the skin.

31:45

cataract is kind of like your inner skin.

31:49

cataract is the lens of the eyes like the inner skin of the eye.

31:54

It’s dried out. So the castor oil will keep your eyes moist. And event time is that when your eyes get most dry.

32:04

So we only had a few minutes left in the session. And I wanted to talk to you the listener about her astigmatism, and her eyes stress.

32:20

So one of the aspects of astigmatism is that it represents a warp in the eye because the eye is shaped more like an egg instead of being spherical and round. And this has to do with an irregular holding pattern of the eyeball in the eye socket. So the the eye is got six eye muscles. And when a person starts developing a stigmatism

32:51

part of what’s happening is that those six muscles are not working equally. And this is due mostly to a couple of things. Number one, postural asymmetry. So head neck tilt, neck tension, number two.

33:07

Number three could be that they’re just under a lot of high stress. And they may be working say, horizontally with their eyes like moving them, say on the screen, and they’re doing a lot of visual scanning. And so when they get that blur, and there’s a twist and a warping.

33:29

Of course, it’s not just in the eyeball, it’s also in the body. And when somebody measures a astigmatism and they give it to the person, it really just reinforces the the twist or the postural asymmetry. That’s a bummer because then you start wearing it and that reinforces the warping. So in her case, she only had the astigmatism in the left eye. So what I suggested is that she go to the drugstore and she get an equal prescription in both eyes, because their left eye was a little more farsighted than the right eye. And again, when you wear a different prescription in each eye, the prescription reinforces the difference. So I asked her to get the same prescription and each I know a stigmatism and start wearing that and then she’d probably be just fine with it, but what will happen is the eyes will start to unwind. And then I suggest that she gets some cranial sacral therapy because that can also help unwind the body and if your eye is not locked down in the twist because it’s not wearing the astigmatism lens anymore. Then it will also go along with the body in terms of untwisting

34:46

I also gave her some exercises to do one is called the Yin Yang peripheral vision exercise. This is on my website. It’s part of my 90 Day eye clarity program if you Google yin yang

35:00

peripheral vision game, Dr. Berne, you will get it, you’ll be able to download the chart. And it’s a soft focus exercise that re educates how the eyes and the brain symmetrically work together. It’s a open focus, soft focus, it engages the peripheral vision. So I had her do that. And then the last exercise I had to do was the palm home exercise. And humming is such a great way for relaxing the eye tissue, especially when you put your palms over the eyes. Studies have shown that when you hum it actually increases the nitric oxide in the blood and nitric oxide is a natural ingredient is evasive, dilator it actually improves the circulation. So you naturally will get better circulation, more relaxation. And I recommend to 10 homes three times a day. And it’s kind of a silly exercise, but it’s so effective and reducing high stress high pain from the muscles. And it increases overall eye clarity and reduces eye stress. So that was the program, you know, working with the cataracts, or working with the floaters working with the astigmatism. I also recommended that she do a little intermittent patching over each eye.

36:25

And that was going to help her stimulate or engage the left eye because it’s definitely blurrier. That’s the eye that the doctor diagnosed as amblyopia. I’m not sure she actually has amblyopia. But that was what he talked about. And since I wasn’t able to look in her eyes, I you know, I couldn’t really tell but the eye patch is great to where you do it equally. You know, five minutes over the right, I do some activities, five minutes over the left, I do some activities. When you take that patch off, your eyes are much brighter and clearer and more relaxed. So she’s going to do that for three months. And then she’s going to check in with me and I suspect she’s going to do quite well with the protocol, because we covered all the bases.

37:15
