262: We Are Your Friends, Suge Knight, Dread Zeppelin, with Jason Dove
This week, we're joined by video game champion/comedian/podcaster/documentarian Jason Dove, who tells us about his documentary about Dread Zeppelin, and his long journey into novelty music. The mash-up concept fits perfectly with the film I saw this week, We Are Your Friends. Other topics include the Suge Knight-Eazy E AIDS conspiracy, and the random "I'm Leaving You" essay generator. Enjoy! 00 - Bret's new job. "Same old trash, brand new dumpster." 5:30 - Fun with "Leaving Everywhere," Darius ...

261: The Fat Jew, YouTube Pranksters, Jewish John Lennon; Guest Jane Harrison
Jane Harrison joins Matt Lieb and Vince Mancini in the Frotquarters for an all-comedian Frotcast about The Fat Jew, the Ashley Madison hack, heckler videos, and YouTube prank videos. Plus, your emails, and the return of "Jewish John Lennon." 2:17 - We talk about that "comedian destroys heckler!" video that was going around and why it's kind of bullsh*t. 14:45 - We talk about the pogrom against the Fat Jew (Matt agrees with the outrage but worries people are pronouncing Fat Jew's name with a ha...

Bonus Frotcast: Bobcat Goldthwait Interview
This morning I posted my interview with Bobcat Goldthwait about Call Me Lucky (my review), which hits more theaters this weekend. Just for fun (or in case you want to hear it in your car), here's the audio from that interview. Bobcat talks about his relationship with Barry Crimmins (the subject of Call Me Lucky), and with Robin Williams and Rowdy Roddy Piper. We talked about his early days of stand-up, and I asked him about performing at the Gathering of the Juggalos, since I knew we'd bot...

Bonus Frotcast: Interview with ‘Look of Silence’ Director Joshua Oppenheimer
Joshua Oppenheimer has spent 14 years in Indonesia, interviewing survivors of a 1965 purge of alleged communists that killed up to a million people. He co-directed the 2012 film 'Act of Killing,' which focused on commandos and militia leaders who bragged about the killings. Oppenheimer got them to open up under the guise of helping them make a film about their "heroic" actions. His latest, 'Look of Silence' is a companion piece, if much different, tonally, focusing on the victims. If 'Act of Kil...

260: Justin Halpern, The Uptown Girl Game
This week's FilmDrunk Frotcast really has everything: big name guests, insightful interviews, original bits, clever pop culture analysis, engaging hosts, and really just a lot of heart. Comedian Matt Lieb joins FilmDrunk's Vince Mancini and Brendan in the Frotquarters, with Shit My Dad Says/I Suck At Girls author Justin Halpern joining via Skype. 2:35 - Matt refuses to believe that Al Pacino is in Jack & Jill. Brendan and Matt do dueling Al Pacino/Adam Sandler impressions 3:45 - The "Uptown Gi...

259: Cecil the Lion, True Detective with Joe Sinclitico
Great show this week, as our guest, comedian Joe Sinclitico either makes or ruins my show with his audible vaping. Matt Lieb and Bret were also in the Frotquarters to talk Cecil the Lion, Woody Allen, True Detective, and horrible press tour interviews. Also, Matt Lieb introduces his new segment, the "Uptown Girl Game." 2:34 - Matt Lieb's incredible "Uptown Girl" talent. Matt Lieb can turn ANY SONG into Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl." It's really quite something. 9:16 - Cecil the Lion and the cyber ...

Frotcast 258: Guest Matt Ufford Talks Adam Sandler, Gawker Drama, and PISTOL DRONE
SB Nation video (and text!) personality Matt Ufford guest stars this week (with Matt Lieb and Vince Mancini) as we talk about Pixels/Adam Sandler, and this week in pop culture, including Gawker's Geithner drama, getting to the bottom of Taylor Swift's latest beef, and our Pistol Drone for President campaign. Plus, your emails. 00:00 - Matt Lieb's wonderful comedy bit about electric skateboards. 2:00 - PIXELS. I describe the plot for Ufford. "I would not have come on this week if I knew this was ...

257: Comic-Con Exclusives, Ant-Man, and Suicide Squad with Laremy and Burnsy
Brendan, Bret, and Matt Lieb are out this week (illnesses and extenuating circumstances, couldn't be helped), but in their place we've got Laremy Legel and Ashley Burns joining via Skype. As well as SO MUCH #CONTENT. Turns out, when Matt isn't around to discuss his sex life, you go deep into the actual Issues of the Day. I'm on the fence about whether this is a good thing. The Ant-Man spoilers are very light, but if you want to avoid them completely, skip from the 27-minutes mark to 34 and you'l...

256: Ted 2, The Trials Of Jared Fogel And Amy Schumer
This week on the Frotcast, the world's best pop culture podcast! Brendan is back in-studio, joining Matt Lieb and Vince Mancini, with guest comedian Torio Van Grol. Topics:-Matt Lieb's Breakup. 255: Oliver Stone’s Snowden, Aaron Sorkin’s Jobs, HBO, and Deaf People’s Orgasms
First of all... DON'T FREAK OUT! I opened this week's show with about a minute of Matt Lieb's stand up. It's something I've been wanting to experiment with. After that, it's a regular Frotcast, with Matt Lieb, Bret, and Vince, live in studio. This week's topics! -What do deaf people sound like when they orgasm? (Don't ask how we got on this subject) -The 'rules' of comedy and thinkpiece culture. -HBO - Game of Thrones and that BIG TWIST in True Detective -The new 'Snowden' movie and Oliver Ston...

254: True Detective, Ballers, And Addressing The Haters (With Burnsy!)
This week on the Frotcast, Ben and Burnsy join via Skype, with Vince, Bret, and Steve Post in the Frotquarters. We talk about the first episode of season two of True Detective, an HBO show about some police officers who drink a lot and are very sad about the absurdity of existence. Alt titles: "California Pout Force." "Grumbleteam Jelloshots." "The Misanthropolice." My hypothesis: Colin Farrell's character isn't a bad dad. His only crime is caring *too* much. Then I address all my numerous hate...

Frotcast 253: Inside Out, Jerry Seinfeld, Rachel Dolezal, with Laremy
With Bret and Matt Lieb joining Vince in the Frotquarters, we open this week with a lengthy, or possibly girthy, discussion of Lebron James' penis. Laremy joins via Skype to discuss Pixar's latest, Inside Out, which we both saw. Since we've been off for two weeks, we discuss Jerry Seinfeld's now-infamous "Political Correctness is killing comedy" comment (words Jerry Seinfeld didn't actually say), and Matt's perspective as a fellow Jewish comedian (I'm required by law to mention that Matt is Jewi...

Special Episode: Dude Bro Party Massacre III
Vince is down in LA for a special edition Frotcast with Michael E. Peter, Michael Rousselet, and Alec Owen of 5-Second Films, whose crowd-funded magnum opus, Dude Bro Party Massacre III, for which they raised more than $200,000, plays the LA Film Festival this week. We talk about how you make a movie with 12-15 people involved in the creative process and how they scored all their magnificent cameos, from Larry King to Patton Oswalt to Andrew WK. We also discuss how much Larry King got paid ($8, ...

252: Kung Fury, Chet Haze, Entourage, Hot Girls Wanted, and Love and Mercy
I know it's probably not why people listen to the Frotcast, but this week, we talk about movies! Lots of them. We open with Kung Fury, now free on YouTube, which we all watched, and mostly enjoyed. After that, I discuss my experience seeing the Entourage movie, which organically leads us into Chet Haze's spirited and similarly tone-deaf defense of using the N-word, aka "N-Star" (including a digression into Brent Weinbach's "Gangsta Party Line"). After that, we discuss the Rashida Jones-produced ...

251: San Andreas, Kaseem Bentley Roasts The Frotcast
This week on the Frotcast, aka Comedians With Microphones Talking Movies, I talk about San Andreas (my review), a film about a very muscular, chesty man's love for his chesty wife and their busty daughter in a time of earthquakes. Bret continues his journey to shilldom ("I get #horny for #brands!") and Matt Lieb tells us about his latest commercial, and why Alexandra Daddario is so attractive it makes him angry. About 30 minutes in, Kaseem Bentley, (SF Weekly Best of Award Winner for "Raci...

250: Game of Thrones Rape and Mad Max: Fury Road Feminism
Welcome to another episode of what we like to call "Comedians with Microphones Talking Movies." This week on the Frotcast, our guest is Laremy Legel from Film.Com (and the upcoming movie 'Lightweight'), and the topics are rape scenes in Game of Thrones and feminism in Mad Max: Fury Road. But before we get to that, we've got an update on the "Startup Castle," which you may remember from last week as the folks behind the world's most pathos-drenched roommate ad. It turns out, the guy who "founded"...

249: Montage Of Heck, and ‘The Startup Castle’s Roommate Ad from Hell
This week on the Frotcast, Incompatent Thieves director Tom Dean joins Matt Lieb and myself (Vince Mancini) in the Frotquarters. We begin discussing the epic beef between Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins and Smash Mouth's Steve Harwell, the most 90s beef since the Arch Deluxe. After that we discuss 80s sitcom theme songs and how bizarrely similar they all were. They were all somehow about a perfect family, that was an antidote to depression, bad news on the TV, and a general apocalyptic hellsca...

248: Slut-Shaming Black Widow, Where Is Joss Whedon, & A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night
This week, OJ Patterson of Courting Comedy/Super Trashed Bros is in the Frotquarters to discuss the #CONTROVERSY surrounding Jeremy Renner's alleged slut-shaming of Black Widow. Is it okay to call a fictional character a slut? Did he ruin his original non-apology by trying to explain it? Also, why did Joss Whedon quit Twitter, or rather, where did Patton Oswalt & Co come up with their explanations for Joss Whedon quitting Twitter? After that, we talk about A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night. Under...

247: Star Wars and Competitive Nostalgia
After losing a week to technical difficulties, we're back! This week, we're discussing the release of the Star Wars trailer and the people competing to see who can be the most nostalgic for Star Wars. The big question is, what’s the line between acceptable, earnest fandom for something that meant a lot to you, and cheering while a corporation sells you your childhood? We try to answer that, talk about "thug" as we solve race relations in Baltimore, listen to some of Joe Sinclitico's stand-up com...

245: ‘Furious’ Freestyle, With Joe Sinclitico and Matt Louv
I was in SoCal this week for the MTV Movie Awards and Alison Rosen's podcast, so the regular Frotcrew is gone this week (though Bret did still show up to the Frotquarters, poor Bret). Not to fear, though, because I was able to get a couple fan-favorite guests to record the make-up 'cast, comedians Joe Sinclitico and Matt Louv (the museum of comedy). We talked about Joe's righteous mustache and it smelling like a condom, the MTV Movie Awards, Furious 7, and discussed whether Vin Diesel is trying ...

244: Going Clear, and San Francisco’s Prison of Technology
There's a new bus service in San Francisco that basically helps rich tech nerds pay a few more dollars not to see poor people. Is this a sign of the apocalypse or is it basically all capitalism in a nutshell? Either way, it seems like we the San Francisco residents are guinea pigs in an experiment to see what it'd be like if tech companies ruled the world. WE HAVE SEEN YOUR FUTURE, AND IT SUCKS. We discuss the infantilizing effect of tech before moving onto 'Going Clear: Scientology and the Pris...

BookDrunk Radio: ‘A Kim Jong-Il Production’ Author Paul Fischer
We couldn't get the Frotcast crew together for a proper Frotcast this past week, but I did interview Paul Fischer 'A Kim Jong-Il Production: The Extraordinary True Story of a Kidnapped Filmmaker, His Star Actress, and a Young Dictator's Rise to Power.' While it's not the same thing as a normal Frotcast, I did go all Teri Gross for a Fresh Air-style, hour-long interview. The book tells the story of Choi Eun-Hee and Shin Sang-Ok, who at one point were the most popular actress and director in South...

243: Name Of The Year Fantasy Draft, With Matt Ufford
Twollie Vanderworf! Tokyo Sexwale! Taco BM Monster! Dr. Loki Skylizard! These are all people's real names, uncovered every year by the folks at NameOfTheYear.com. Using their 2015 Name Of the Year bracket, we all chose our Name Of The Year fantasy teams, with guest and fantasy sports expert Matt Ufford of The Inactives podcast. After that, we discuss competitive Paul Walker grieving among the Furious 7 cast, and go down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theory websites. Enjoy, and go to AudibleTrial...
