Actor and activist Ta’Kaiya Blaney (@TaKaiyaBlaney) talks about activism, art and the power and importance of young people speaking out for climate justice with Skaana (@skaanapod) host Mark Leiren-Young (@leirenyoung). “Activism doesn’t have to just look like one thing. It can be art, it can be creative resistance, it can be social-media-based. Do what you love to protect what you love.” Skaana connects you to stories about oceans, eco-ethics and the environment. It’s our generation that will witness and experience the repercussions of industrial activity of the secretion of pollution of climate change. So putting ourselves out there, speaking to our concerns and speaking for our future and our right to live in a world with clean water and clean air and healthy lands – I think that’s a really powerful thing that reminds older generations in positions of power where their responsibility lies. Youth voices have an incredible power to them and so I would encourage young people who want to get involved in climate justice to speak up because your voices are so, so needed. (14:49) * Generation Now.
