The possibility of introducing a tax on sugary soft drinks as one way of combating the obesity epidemic is a topic being discussed in the media currently. It is widely expected that this tax will be introduced later this year as part of ‘Budget 2017′.But a group representing the drinks industry has published a report which claims that the tax will add €60 to a family’s annual grocery bill and do little to stop obesity.
