The Reform Alliance is gearing up for its first national conference at the RDS in Dublin on saturday week.
The alliance consists of former TD’s and Senators, most of whom lost the party whip over their vote against abortion legislation last July, including the former minister for European Affairs Lucinda Creighton.
The one day gathering at the RDS will be the first opportunity to gauge the appetite for a new political party.
The Alliance has already been in contact with up to 200 interested fugues and independent politicians.
Speaking to Spirit Radio, Ms Creighton said it was bizarre to suggest that the Reform Alliance should only talk about social issues.
She added that media reports suggesting a distancing from the groups pro life stance were perplexing
