Fr Nicky Hennity - 20th Anniversary of Rwanda Genocide

Back in 1994, on the 6th of April, the airplane carrying the Rwandan and Burundian presidents (Juvénal Habyarimana and Cyprien Ntaryamira) was shot down. The following day, April 7th a killing spree was unleashed in Rwanda which lasted for around 100 days and left an estimated 1 million people dead.

Now 20 years on, it is important, though painful, to look back and remember those days… to reflect and pray for all those affected, and to ask whether lessons have been learnt from this almost unspeakable tragedy.

Fr Nicky Hennity, a member of Saint Patrick’s Missionary Society spoke to Rojo about his memories of the almost unspeakable tragedy.
