As Christians we are commanded to forgive one another as Christ has forgiven us but what happens when someone you love is suddenly taken from your life by someone else’s careless behavior? That difficult choice to forgive then becomes a reality.
On Saturday morning on the 16th August this year Eamon Cronin who was just turning 50 was tragically killed when he was struck by a car on North Street in Swords, close to his home in Co Dublin.
An immediate investigation was launched as the search for a hit and run driver began. For most people the shock, trauma and grief would be unbearable let alone the difficult process of forgiveness.
But Mr. Cronin’s wife, Jane gave an astounding statement from the moment the investigation was launched: She said, “If there is anyone responsible for what happened, I forgive them.”
