In what doctors at Boca Raton Regional Hospital are calling “Miracle on Meadows Road,” Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro, suffered prolonged pulselessness after giving birth at a hospital. Ruby had gone 45 minutes without a pulse when doctors called her family into the operating room and told them there was nothing more they could do.

And then the impossible happened: A blip of a heartbeat showed up. Then another, and another.

“I remember feeling a force telling me it’s not my time. . . you’re not coming here . . . this is not your time. You know you’re not supposed to be here. You’re going to wait a while, but you’re not staying here.”

“Miracle Mom” Ruby with her new baby as friends, family and medical staff look on.

Amazingly, doctors say, Graupera-Cassimiro suffered no complications. No reduced brain function from the loss of circulation. No burns from the repeated shocks doctors delivered in hopes of restarting her heart.

No bruises, even, from the chest compressions they took turns giving her to keep her blood flowing.

Within days she was back at home.

“I don’t know why I was given this opportunity,” Graupera-Cassimiro said, “but I’m very grateful for it.”

 The Power of Prayer

In the podcast Robin mentions a book by Larry Dossey, M.D. called Healing Words: The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine and his follow-up Prayer Is Good Medicine: How to Reap the Healing Benefits of Prayer.

Dr. Dossey was interviewed by Oprah as part of her Soul Series. In the video below he discusses his pioneering work in the efficacy of prayer in healing.
