14:37:22 From Todd Adams : who has a questions for Mercedes?
14:53:20 From Lisa Pesce : question…how about for teens or 18yr olds…helping positioning it to them when they don’t necessarily yet see how a trauma is affecting them?
15:04:22 From Admin’s iPhone to Todd Adams(Privately) : I meant to say Bethany is on spring break this week & she is not herself & feels no one gets her. Her anxiety & depression is bad. She’s on medication & seeing a therapist but this will help.
15:06:33 From Ginny Thompson : question: I took a creative writing class in my early 20s when I was also confronting sexual trauma in my childhood. All of my writing that semester dealt with my experiences with one piece feeling particularly healing where I took my younger self’s hand and walked through difficult memories together, letting myself know that it wasn’t my fault and that I am safe now. 15:07:30 From Ginny Thompson : if you could read that would be great
15:09:20 From Lisa Pesce : ironically her writing is frozen and she can’t express emotions at all…disconnected from her emotions…coming to head in deciding about college as she can’t access HER feelings so wanting to help her…would LOVE a writing class this summer if anyone has recommendations if she won’t do EMDR!
15:10:05 From Lisa Pesce : (typing bc my teenager is in other room…)
15:11:09 From Millie Hsi : I’m sorry that I have not been listening until just now bc I’ve been helping my boys with their distance learning. And I can’t get on to speak so I’ll type my question. We adopted our daughter at 11 months from China and she is now 14. We have always been open about her being adopted and celebrate her Gotcha Day every year. While we do talk about her adoption and sometimes I say out loud, “I wonder if your birthmom or dad was…” in relation to something that we notice in her—like her being super flexible for gymnastics, I feel that we could talk more about it. From what we know, she was abandoned as a newborn and spent her early months at an orphanage. We learned recently that she may have had a traumatic early few months before she was brought to a loving private orphanage. I haven’t asked her recently if she has any questions about her adoption or birth family. But my question is whether Mercedes has seen trauma play out in an adopted teen who has (so far) not shown any signs of trauma from what had to h
