The queens are mothering on the runway for this momtastic ball dedicated to some of our finest cultural matriarchs, like Octomom and Salma Hayek. We have our own picks for moms missed this week, but you should also know we kind of loved Hershii’s Aunt Altima two-stepping around in that wig. We can agree that Nymphia Wind is blowing the rest of the girls away, we have much to say about the Eeyore of Drag and we’re thrilled to see Isaac Mizrahi dandying out on the judges panel, to say nothing of C...

It’s the final four floor show of the season and we’ve got a noodle wig, a self-gagging worm, sexy soap scum, raw fish, a rose reveal, and one very precarious situation with a clothing rack. Plus: the Boulets at their bat handiest, that MUSIC, and a bloody crowning we maybe saw coming in week one. Want even more Alright Mary? The B Team of Season 16 arrives this week and let’s just say it looks like we’re in for a bumpy flight. Plane Jane soars in to a room full of indoor kids and takes hold of the narrative and the ire of social media. Meanwhile Plasma could be flirting with the curse of the BFA, Nymphia is the definition of bananas, and we have much to debate about Megami’s moment. We also discuss the statistics of past split premieres, the parents of Drag Race, Hershi’s Bermuda shorts, Becky with the guest spot an...

We’re kicking off this season of Nuance, the Alright Mary aftershow, with the grand opening of the Mary Mailbag! We answer your questions about burnout, viewing parties, bingeworthy and cringeworthy seasons and our favorite Alanis, plus movie recommendations and more! Want even more Alright Mary? The flagship series is back for a sixteenth spin! And while a split premiere and a talent show aren’t exactly reinventing the wheel, some fresh faces and old school twists keep it interesting. To say nothing of Charlize Theron practically wearing a nametag, Love Connie playing neighborhood watch, RuPaul doing intercom acting, a perfectly placed Derrick Barry and the budget for a Beyoncé lip sync. There was much to queen out about in the world of Drag Race this year, and more than we could possibly cover. This week we’re looking back at the queens, quotes, moments, meltdowns and memes we loved from 2023, including highlights from Season 15, DRUK S5, All Stars 8 and Canada’s Drag Race S4 (and briefly, Dragula) as well as social media. For a semifinal challenge with Humungous in the title, we thought this week’s floorshow might have been…bigger. But perhaps that’s been a running theme all season. Orkgotik continues to turn trash into treasure, Throb gives horny gremlin, Nio has a bellybutton, Blackberri floats like a butterfly but doesn’t quite sting like a bee and Fantasia’s bug with boobs gets exterminated. To be honest we’re ready for a two break breakula from the season before they reunite to hash it out all out at next mo...

It’s time to bring out the black lights because this week’s theme is something like 80’s funhouse neon darkroom nightmare demon—oh and also make it two in one looks. Throb is back to playing Boulet’s Best Friend Race with Nio, and Orkgotik is worried they’re kissing. Meanwhile, Blackberri glows like an Egyptian, Cynthia goes full club kid and Fantasia barely wriggles out of the bottom. Nio strong arms her way to another win and we say goodbye to the much beloved narrator of the season in an exte...

Set your sonic transducers to stunning because we’re headed to the intergalactic backpages for some casual connections that are out of this world. And a little muppety, if that’s your thing. This week’s sex workers in space floor show was a mixed bag when it came to interpreting the prompt, but it’s JayKay who is most feeling the gravity of the situation as Throb vows to send them to Uranus because Jarvis lost a lip sync a couple weeks ago. We manage to also use up some oxygen on male orgasms, M...

It’s the battle of the bands this week! While Chaotik is horns above Devil’s 4 Play when it comes to banding together, Blackberri drums up some deserved praise for making the most of being, daresay, a background singer. “Gods of Death” sends us down a late 90s/early 2000s rock rabbit hole, but we also talk about organic peanut butter and class trips for a little bit, so there’s something for everyone. Cynthia goes full Baddie Mom, Throb wears sunglasses inside, JayKay has Disney voice, Fantasia ...

We’re not quite buying what they’re selling for this week’s QVShe home shopping challenge. From fancy flats to party ponchos, the queens hawk crap on live TV, try to make “Daddeldoo” happen and in some cases completely fall apart under the pressure to sell bras with pockets. The runway is a rocky road of precious stones, but guest judge Rajah O’Hara is a welcomed addition, as is the Golden Beaver twist. Kitten not only wins this week, but may work at Home Depot, and we say see see ya later to Si...

t’s time to separate the beasts from the babies, the monsters of rock group challenge is (almost) here! This week’s opening act is a full metal floorshow followed by an on the spot extermination via a lip sync for your death. Fantasia takes center stage, Orkgotik is the baddest bitch of the night and Niohuru continues to chop through the competition. JayKay’s rollercoaster of a journey this season takes another hard left, but it’s the Hammer that gets nailed this week. We also discuss Anna’s out...

Eleven new queens of the north have entered, subsequently exited, then re-entered en masse through that maple leaf shaped door for a new season of Canada’s Drag Race! In what is essentially one big Meet the Queens, we get a showgirls mini-challenge, workroom banter, a social justice alcove, a visit from Tegan and Sara in their best raincoats and a first impressions runway for the true north trio of Brooke, Brad and Tracy. We’re already having a great Girlfriend Experience, but we loved when Sisi...

We’re checking into the spookiest Marriott you’ve ever seen for this week’s haunted hotel floorshow! Throb takes it to the penthouse suite, but is bested by JayKay’s sentient bar cart. Nio nearly says “I do” to a second win, despite some cold feet in the Lab, Anna misses her shot but hits our bullseyes, Fantasia and Jarvis get notes and Satanna briefly quits before three of them lay on some cots while rats give them tickles. Want even more Alright Mary? Become a Matreon at the Sister Mary level...

Things get gross for this week’s filth-focused floor show. To the surprise of no one who watched the trailer, JayKay comes back just in time to chug sludge and win the opportunity to force Cynthia to do her makeup in a dirty Port-a-Potty. Speaking of which, we have a lot to say about Cynthia, from her bad mom vibes to her meth mom presentation. There’s something off about Onyx’s critiques, we kind of loved Anna’s bananas reveal and can agree that Throb was two scoops above the rest when it came ...

We’re ending Alright Scary the way we started it, with another slick early 90s thriller delivering a TV movie story with a lobster dinner budget, a sweeping score by a legendary composer and a rising Hollywood star front and center of any promotional materials. 1993’s “The Good Son” is a chilly, unsettling turn in Macaulay Culkin’s career, but we’re more concerned with Wendy Crewson’s Susan, the Good Mom, caught between Henry the Bad Seed of coastal Maine and Mark who believes she’s the reincarn...

Spooky season may be over but a new season of Dragula has just begun! The Boulets welcome an airport van full of new monsters over the river and through the woods to a snazzier, sleeker set with a lot more lights and a lot less spiders all over anyone's tits. We have some early favorites, from spooky kook Jarvis to cigarette mom Cynthia, a new rattle we’ll likely be repeating all season, a lot of trouble with the name Satanna and some very sharp words for a certain DVD cover. Want even more Alr...

It’s an Alright Scary tradition to revisit the Scream franchise just in time for Halloween, and this year we’re Marying out on “Scream 3”! Despite a reputation for being a bit of a slump in the saga, we found a lot to appreciate—specifically Parker Posey. Neve’s back in her signature earth tones, Gail’s bangs have been slashed, Scott Foley inspires an important ranking of the Great Scotts of the era, and despite the lack of Kevin Williamson, the script has some surprisingly astute commentary abo...

Alright Scary makes a pit stop in Nilbog for 1990's cult classic,"Troll 2"! This is of course not actually a sequel to "Troll" and doesn't even necessarily feature trolls, but it does have a hot dad, a veritable Mary Tyrone of a mother, MAGA Holly, a sweaty camper full of dudes, a corny witch with dry lips, the absolute worst minivan in the world, lots of daytime horror, so much green frosting, and some Grandpa ex machina in the form of a double decker bologna sandwich. Don't piss on hospitality...

This week, we're talkin' about the floor fillers challenge on Drag Race UK Season 5. We discuss why it was a blessing in disguise to have the queens self-select their groups, what we're still missing from these girl group challenges, and of course what we think Tomara Thomas loves. We are finally navigating the Buffyverse for Alright Scary this week with the Season 4 episode “Hush”! It’s as much about fairy tale monsters stealing voices and hearts across Sunnydale as it is about Buffy confronting her intimacy issues, Willow navigating a sexual awakening, Anya learning the complexities of human relationships and how much of our civility is tied to our communication skills. But it’s also a genuinely scary episode and a great entry point if you want to dip your toes into this...

Alright Scary continues with the controversial (summer) camp classic from the slasher boom of the 80’s, “Sleepaway Camp”! This video store staple is best remembered for a twist ending that hasn’t aged well, but there’s so much to say about Aunt Martha, Ricky, Best Supporting Queen Judy, the unabashed sleaze and overt homoeroticism, that distinct Jersey vibes, the unfathomable hotness of Gene, Susie Snell, and how else to interpret what this movie could (hypothetically) be saying about Angela. W...

Here is a sneaky preview of what to expect as we get to know ten new queens off to the camptown races for badges, screentime, meme potential and maybe even a guest spot on a future season (hey Sminty!). We acknowledge the eleventh elephant in the room, despite some seriously slick work by the editors, swoon over Best Supporting Kristen and waste no time picking potential faves.
