What's worse: drugs, or being a child star?
Fentanyl is all the rage these days when it comes to overdosing, but that wasn't always the case. You had a cornucopia of ways to party like a dead rockstar. One thing that hasn't changed, however, is that child stars become broken adults. We don't like the idea of AI being in our shows and hosting our podcasts, but could that be a good way to have kids in movies without ruining a real life kid? Topics: Hayden Panettiere vs. Neutrogena AI replacing child stars AI replacing everyone else too ...

Ruff Boy
Two days ago, we lost Frank Beard, the drummer for ZZ Top. But that's not the only tragedy in studio today. Kathryn is busy. That may not sound like a big deal, but that's only because you're not Jude. He's taking it pretty hard. Topics: Frank Beard dies at 77 ZZ Top Jude's extreme separation anxiety New t-shirt design

Niki Borger is an actor, producer, and fan of American storytelling
Niki is here to talk about NFTease, her upcoming show about geeks trying to get into the NFT game - with a twist. Another twist is that she got kicked out of America a couple months ago. So that makes things a bit more difficult. Tom did not take this news well. For more of Niki's work, visit https://nikijborger.com/. This guest was booked using PodMatch! Bob versus technology
Bob's daughter's phone got run over, so he joins us from the parking lot of a T-Mobile. Apparently this isn't the first device he's had to rescue in a hurry. Then, suddenly, his connection goes bad. It's not a good day for tech. But it is a good day for the Vikings, who have won a single preseason game. If that's not a reason to get your hopes up, I don't know what is. Topics: Bob at T-Mobile Ethan's indestructible tablet Indecent exposure at Nickelodeon Universe The Vikings are obviously g...

There's a darkness within Hollywood
We lost yet another young actor to (what is presumably) mental illness. Hayden Panetierre died at 36 yesterday after a lot of personal tragedy and tribulation. And, of course, spending her entire life embedded in Hollywood. Seems like a lot of people end up messed up after years of acting, and much moreso when those years are their early ones. Why is that? We have theories. Topics: Hayden Panetierre's death Yachting Funny people, tragic personal lives Raising kids in Hollywood

Family Chat is back
Tired of using Kristyn's segment to talk about our day, we instead decided to revive the segment dedicated entirely to just that. The result? Death, mostly. Dead dogs, family annihilators, serial killers. Maybe we need more sleep. Topics: Oakley the dog gets put down We went to the Carver County Fair The Lindsay Clancy case and its obligatory conspiracy theories Alex and Dad went to Winona Charles Manson was not a nice man

Citizen Dave and Mark Kasella are your local Hammbassadors
The Complete Disaster Network is finally getting its second show. It's called Bear Tracks, and will be hosted by Former Officer Dave and his friend Mark Kasella. The topic? Hamm's beer. The beer, the culture, the memorabilia. There's a lot of history in Hamm's, and they plan on cracking it open. Get it? Because that's a thing you do with beer, too.

Dog attacks Tom, T-Rex attacks the 80s
Birch decided to lose his mind this segment. Tim, being no stranger to loud dogs in the studio, took it in stride. Besides, Birch being annoying is nothing compared to your neighborhood being transported millions of years into the past and attacked by dinosaurs. Unless it is. We've never experienced that firsthand. Topics: Minions & Monsters isn't drawing the numbers the franchise is used to End of Oak Street is like Jurassic Park but not stale Alan Ritchson has decided to become a political...

Is the Thursday night sitcom block coming back?
The Thursday night sitcom was a staple for decades. Then everything changed when streaming took over. Kristyn is optimistic; she believes we might be going back to a simpler time. And given the glut of nostalgic shows, that seems to be what everyone wants right now. Minus the fat jokes. Topics: Jamie Lee Curtis's new show, Newlyweds Thursday night sticoms Tracey Gold fat jokes on Growing Pains Matthew McConaughey's bee sting Guillermo Rodriguez might be a rising star

Juliette Francis joins the fight against Alzheimer's
Juliette isn't the first Francis we've had on our show, although she is married to one of them. We'll let you guess which. What we won't let you guess is how to help fight Alzheimer's, because that shouldn't be left to chance. Juliette is the new executive director of the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota, North Dakota, and Montana. She's also, like Dan, raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association. Dan is biking, Juliette is walking. Now all we need is the sea and the sky covered and Alzhei...

John David is bringing bookstores back by writing books
John David wrote The Bystander, which is ironic because at the end of the show, he himself becomes a bystander. Hey, we never claimed to be a tightly-run ship. That's why we're not buying any property on Palm Beach island. Well, one of many reasons. Oh yeah, remember how we kept talking about death in the previous segment? The Bystander is about someone who catches a mass shooting being thwarted by a good guy with a gun...but not all is as it seems. More murder and more mystery. How perfect. Oh ...

Murder and mystery
Today we're all about various deaths. Murder/suicides, regular murders, the slow death of radio, it doesn't matter. As long as something is expiring. It's not all negative though; we got clued into a nice segment on Vinnie Tortorich's podcast that has since gone to Jude's head. Topics: Howard Stern laying off 50 people Radio and local TV are on the decline Hopkins home daycare murder/suicide The Rockford Files are coming back Friday the 13th is getting a prequel Vinnie Tortorich and Anna ...

Teri M Brown tandem bikes across America
In 2020, Teri and her husband got on a tandem bike in Oregon and got off in Washington DC. Well, they got on and off a few times between the two, but you know what I mean. It was a 3102 mile journey, and most impressively, they didn't get hit by a single car. They came pretty close one time, though. Sports salaries throughout the ages
The lowest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL make just over a million a year. People say that's cheap. Personally, if I ever made a million a year I'd consider myself to have had it made, but life is different in the world of sports. Especially if you're the commissioner of something. Especially especially if you're the commissioner of football. Topics: The Twins aren't good Bob loses a bunch of weight Can the Vikings win this year? What a weekend
What did you do this weekend? We'll tell you all about what we did, because Kristyn is gone. Don't worry, we still got some minor entertainment news in. Jack Hicks is back, and he's got more KQ stories
Jack joins us, but the audio is terrible. What else is new? So instead we watch a QVC gaffe video to pass the time. Once Jack returns with functioning electronics, it's straight into tales of Minnesota radio in the 80s, 90s, and today. Maybe not so much today. Topics: QVC gaffe video Jack gets tailgated Jack's bathroom encounter Tom wrecks a trailer

Tim's rare scathing review
One Night Only is basically The Purge, but for premarital sex. Sounds pretty stupid, right? Well that's not the movie Tim hated. That honor goes to Ice Cream Man. And once he explains it, you might not blame him. Topics: One Night Only The family is going to see Minions and Monsters Ice Cream Man Unrated movies Ali G is still around, apparently

No, we're not showing the Perez Hilton video
The entertainment industry is currently laser focused on Perez Hilton, who streamed himself cutting himself until he was drenched in his own blood. We highly encourage you to not seek it out. In lighter news, did you know that Zubaz still exist? And that taking your shirt off at the library is frowned upon? You probably did know that one. Topics: Perez Hilton's self-harm video Zubaz and Crocs are cool again Keeping kids off YouTube Kathryn takes her shirt off at the local library

Tony Price is an enemy of deer
You know how deer have a tendency to jump in front of vehicles, because they're stupid? Sometimes that vehicle is a motorcycle. And sometimes that motorcycle makes contact. And in rare circumstances, the rider of that motorcycle lives to tell the tale. Which is exactly what Tony does today. Visit https://www.goldstarride.org/ to learn more about Tony's mission to help gold star families across the country. Simon Dorey encourages literacy at least at grade level
They say that most kids can't read at grade level anymore. Whether this is true, I cannot say. But I can say that kids love it when their parents read to them. Simon has published ten children's books and plans on publishing a hundred more. We have published zero, but we've bought about ten thousand. And that may or may not be an exaggeration. Dave McElroy is CMA's breakout artist of the year, and a fan of Tom's
Dave might be a big shot CMA award-winning country star now, but once upon a time he was a big shot athlete and musician in Minnesota listening to big shots on Minnesota radio. Now he's on our big shot podcast. I'm gonna be totally honest - I don't really know what a big shot is. It just feels appropriate in this case. The world tour podcast
Let us take you on an adventure. First, we'll swing by Highway 12. We won't stay for long, because it sucks and we hate it. Then we'll go to the far off land of Saudi Arabia and see what they're doing with Paramount Plus. Next, the mythical Chinee Land, which does not exist except in some woman's imagination. Finally, we'll speak a bit of EspaƱol. This time it's the words that don't exist, except for in Ethan's imagination. Topics: Construction on Highway 12 Minneapolis protests are getting s...
